How are collections made when my scheduled day falls on a holiday?: If your scheduled day falls on a holiday, all garbage, bulk trash, limbs, yard waste, and tires will be collected on the Wednesday of that week. If your recycling collection is scheduled on the holiday, it will also be collected on the Wednesday of that week. The holiday collection schedule is published in the newspaper and is available to you through the 3-1-1 Customer Call Center.

1. Do tires have to be off the rim to be collected?: No, tires may be either on or off the rim.

2. How are collections made when my scheduled day falls on a holiday?: If your scheduled day falls on a holiday, all garbage, bulk trash, limbs, yard waste, and tires will be collected on the Wednesday of that week. If your recycling collection is scheduled on the holiday, it will also be collected on the Wednesday of that week. The holiday collection schedule is published in the newspaper and is available to you through the 3-1-1 Customer Call Center.

3. How can I reach your 3-1-1 Customer Call Center?: If you are calling from the City of Hampton, simply dial 3-1-1 on your touch tone or rotary dial phone. From outside the city of Hampton, please dial (757) 727-8311. The call center is available from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.

4. How many tires can I put out for collection?: Residential customers can put up to five tires out per week, 10 tires total per year, at the curb for collection.

5. What is my tire collection day?: All garbage, bulk trash, limbs, yard waste, and tires are collected on the same day each week. Collection Schedule Map

6. What kind of tires will Public Works collect curbside?: Only passenger car or pick up truck tires are collected. Large truck tires (tandem dump trucks) tractor tires, or off-road tires are not taken and proper disposal is the responsibility of the owner.

7. When can I put my tires out for collection?: Tires can be put out for collection as early as 3 p.m. on the day before your scheduled collection day. Tires need to be curbside by 7 a.m. to ensure you will receive prompt service.

8. Who can put tires at the curb for collection?: Hampton residents that receive city garbage collection service can put out tires for collection. Businesses and commercial customers cannot put out tires for collection.

9. Whom should I call to request tire recycling?: Call the 3-1-1 Customer Call Center. If you are calling from the City of Hampton, simply dial 3-1-1 on your touch tone or rotary dial phone. From outside the City of Hampton please dial (757) 727-8311. The call center is available from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week to assist you.

10. Why do I need to provide space between my tires and other items out for collection?: Each item is collected by a different vehicle so the tires need to be accessible to the collector.
