As part of the building security, can we get the stripe on back of ID badges instead of having the fobs?: Response from Human Resources: The City is undergoing a security enhancement that involves multiple phases. As you are aware, we now have a security guard station in the City Hall lobby and some employees have started to receive replacement badges that include a bar code which provides the same access as the key fobs. The intent is to replace all badges and eliminate the use of the fobs. Due to the various levels of security and access, this process will be a phased-in approach.

1. Can a manager require an employee to post a promotion of a city event or campaign on the employees personal social media?: No, a manager cannot require an employee to post a City event on their personal Facebook page.

As you are aware, we now have a security guard station in the City Hall lobby and some employees have started to receive replacement badges that include a bar code which provides the same access as the key fobs. The intent is to replace all badges and eliminate the use of the fobs. Due to the various levels of security and access, this process will be a phased-in approach.

3. Why can we only give 24 hours of leave away to someone, not more if you have it?: The current leave donation program allows employees to donate a maximum of 24 hours per pay period. The 24 hour limit is a safeguard to ensure the donor does not deplete their leave balance.

4. Can the city have a grievances call center or hotline you can call with a complaint and remain anonymous or you want to grieve about something?: Human Resources: We have no formal procedures or hotlines in place to handle this type of issue. However, if an employee is concerned about fraud, waste, abuse, or any similar issue they should contact Human Resources. Human Resources will work with the employee to define the situation and then either address the situation within Human Resources or direct the employee to another resource.

5. Can the city sign up to provide the new MyRA savings accounts for all employees?: Finance Department: The MyRA has not been established yet to my knowledge: In the State of the Union address, President Obama said he was authorizing the Treasury Department to create a starter savings account. However, the city currently offers a 457 plan through ICMA-RC and all employees are eligible to contribute, including part time & WAE employees. The 457 Plan allows participants to set aside pre-tax money (through payroll deductions) for retirement purposes. The member is free to choose how much they want to contribute.
