  3. Voices of Freedom: Why should we celebrate Juneteenth?

    June 19, 2019, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Hampton History Museum

Join us for a special musical presentation with Musical Mosaic. Travel back in time to June 19th, 1865, the day Gen. Gordon Granger arrived in Texas and told the people that the Civil War was over, and the enslaved were now free. That date became known as Juneteenth, or Freedom Day! So the question is: Why do we celebrate Juneteenth today? Through the uplifting voices of Musical Mosaic, and an ensemble of guest artists, we will explore that question through song, dance, and poetry from the past through the present. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Proceeds support the museum.
