    Join Instructor Janet Tucker at Buckroe Beach for yoga on the beach. Bring a yoga mat, bottled water, and a friend or friends and wear comfortable attire. All levels of experience are welcome.   2. Groovin' by the Bay Summer Concert Series

    This summer, join us on Sunday nights for a groovin' evening of live music at Buckroe Beach! Experience the bay breeze under the stars while partying to the best of old school r&b, funk, jazz infused, beach music. Food vendors are on-site. Complimentary shuttle service is available from 4:00pm-9:00pm, leaving from Jones Magnet Middle School located at 1819 Nickerson Blvd.

  3. Hampton PRLS Master Plan Update

    The City of Hampton’s PRLS Department is ready to update its master plan! This plan will be used to guide decisions for renovation, redevelopment, and future development of the City’s park infrastructure and recreational facilities. The meeting will be held at the Hampton Roads Convention Center, Ballroom EF. No RSVP is required. The plan hasn’t been updated in twenty years, so please come tell us what you want to see for the future of your parks department! Additional public meetings are anticipated in December 2019 and January 2020. The process will take approximately one year, and is intended to be brought forward for Council adoption in August 2020.

  4. Book Launch - "Fate & Freedom: On Troubled Shores"

    Join author K. I. Knight for the release of On Troubled Shores, the finale of her award-winning Fate and Freedom historical fiction trilogy. Knight, a genealogist, historian, and author, has spent countless hours researching the first Africans to arrive in English North America in 1619, presents the stories of her characters, Margaret and John, and their hope, faith, and courage, during their fight for freedom 400 years ago. The book will be available in the gift shop for $24.95. Museum members enjoy a 10% discount. Feel free to bring your lunch!

  5. Vinnie Knight and The Jazz Riders

    August 21, 2019, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Hampton History Museum

    Escape the dog days of summer with an evening of cool American jazz from the 1920s to the present, blues standards and selections from the Great American Songbook with award-winning vocalist Vinnie Knight. She has toured extensively and has brought her music to Europe, Africa and Asia. She attended the prestigious Juilliard School of Music and has shared her talent in mentoring aspiring jazz vocalists. Accompanying Ms. Knight will be James Hancock on bass, Jeremy Ward on bass and Ralph Copley on drums. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Proceeds benefit the Hampton History Museum.
