  1. NAMI Family to Family Education Program

    February 19, 2019, 6:00 AM - 8:30 PM @ Executive Towers Building

    The Hampton/Newport News affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness will offer its spring 2019 Family to Family Education Program 12 consecutive Tuesdays, Feb. 12-April 30. Family to Family is a free, 12-session education program for family, partners, friends and significant others of adults living with mental illness. The course is designed to help all family members understand and support their loved one,living with mental illness, while maintaining their own well-being. The course includes information on illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression and other mental health conditions. Thousands of families describe the program as life-changing. The program is taught by trained teachers who are also family members and know what it is like to have a loved one living with mental illness. Pre-registration is required.   2. Officer Kenneth Wallace Memorial Dedication and Groundbreaking

    February 21, 2019, 2:00 PM @ Robinson Park

    The Olde Wythe Neighborhood Association will host a memorial service and gazebo groundbreaking honoring the sacrifice of Hampton Police Officer Kenneth Wallace. This service will commemorate the 25th anniversary of Officer Wallace’s murder in Wythe while he was on duty. At the event, the Wallace family will break ground for the Officer Kenneth Wallace Memorial gazebo, which is being constructed with help from a Hampton Neighborhood Commission grant to the neighborhood association. A tent with seating is being provided, and the commemoration will take place rain or shine. Call 757-244-6648 for more information.
