Benjamin Blundercheck's Rock n Roll Chess Riot

Saturday, January 14, 2023

Be among the first to experience the CHESS RIOT! It’s a CONCERT AND A TOURNAMENT with a big interactive twist and, and we can guarantee that you have never experienced this tournament format before! Suitable for all ages and skill levels, be ready for a full afternoon of chess themed entertainment! Free to the public to observe if not playing the tournament. Enjoy the show and casual chess!

SUPER CHEAP  $10 entry fee, with cash prizes!

CHESS PLAYERS BE WARNED:  This will NOT be a QUIET tournament!  Look at the name!  You will be playing in a rock n roll concert type environment.  That being said, we are not turning up to 11, the noise level will be kept reasonable.  The lights will be dimmed.  We will have live music in between games and less distracting music during the games to keep the energy level high!

Because distractions and some noise should be anticipated, we encourage you to play unrated.  Think of it as a celebration of the game, rather than trying to play the best chess of your life!  However, we MIGHT offer a RATED section if enough BRAVE SOULS wish to prove they can play chess under any circumstances!

Games 1, 2, and 3 will be 5 minute blitz (G/5; d0)

Game 4 will be 15 minutes (G/15; d3)

Game 5: will be 30 minutes (G/30; d3)

There is a TWIST of LUCK to this tournament, with 2 rounds of Benjamin Blundercheck’s brand new game, MUSICAL CHESS!! The lucky, and skilled winners of this wild group variation will receive points towards the tournament!

BENJAMIN BLUNDERCHECK and the POISONED PAWN provide the world’s first ever CHESS ROCK between games!  You don’t want to miss this one-of-a-kind afternoon of FUN and excitement.  Where else can you find that for ONLY $10 ??

Please arrive NO LATER THAN 12:00 pm to check in for the first round.  Late entries accepted up to 1:30pm, with up to a full point bye.

Teachers will be on hand to teach the public how to play from scratch.
