    The Hampton Roads Convention Center welcomes back more than 3,000 otaku (fanboys and fangirls) to NekoCon, a Japanese anime convention featuring everything from cosplay to LARP (live-action-role-playing) in which attendees dress up as their favorite anime characters and become part of the action. Members are welcome to attend various panels and workshops, purchase merchandise in the dealers room, and be a part of main attractions like karaoke contests, art shows, and nightly dances.

  2. Hampton Roads Veg Fest

    November 3, 2019, 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM @ Mill Point Park

    At the fourth annual Hampton Roads VegFest on November 3 at Mill Point Park in Hampton, thousands of vegans and curious carnivores with mouth-watering plant-based delights, from juices to juicy veggie burgers, pizza, desserts, and everything in between. Omnivore favorites like Cast Iron Catering, Sofrito, and Plaza Del Sol will join the roster of vegan staples like Fruitive, The Green Cat, and Honest Pastures with 100% vegan menus that entice attendees to try out healthier, kinder, and more compassionate eating. My Vegan Sweet Tooth, whose fare consistently sells out by mid-afternoon, will also attend. VegFest will also present nationally acclaimed speakers, a beer garden with local favorites, live music, a kids’ zone, a healing arts tent, adoptable animals from local rescue organizations, and more than 70 vendors and non-profits. This year's main stage headliner is 80’s show band The Deloreans.

  1. Start Peninsula

    Start Peninsula is a weekend-long event that combines a pitch competition with business education and celebrates the local entrepreneurial ecosystem. Early-stage businesses are invited to apply to pitch at Start Peninsula. If a business is invited to pitch at Start Peninsula, they must pay a fee of $75 before Oct. 1 or $100 after that. Thirty businesses will be invited to pitch on Friday, Nov. 1, and three winners will be selected on Sunday, Nov. 3. “We are excited to host Start Peninsula at Hampton University. Start Peninsula has proven to be a valuable entrepreneurship initiative on the Peninsula and we are thrilled to welcome early-stage businesses to pitch at this year’s event,” said Chuck Rigney, Hampton's Economic Development director. Start Peninsula 2019 is hosted by Hampton in partnership with Newport News, Williamsburg, Poquoson, James City County and York County.

Hampton History Museum Carousel Schedule

  1. Haunted Horse Rides at the Hampton Carousel

    November 3, 2019, 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM @ Carousel Park & Hampton Carousel

    Trick or Treating with the Headless Horseman and free candy are part of the fun in store for visitors to “Haunted Horse Rides” at the historic Hampton Carousel Tuesday through Sunday, October 1 through November 3, 11 am - 8 pm. Located in Carousel Park, Downtown Hampton, the Hampton Carousel will be decorated for the season of ghosts and goblins, with costumed carousel staff giving candy to visitors. The finely carved and painted horses will also be decorated, with one of the horses occupied by the infamous Headless Horseman.
