  2. RaJazz -- Live at the Docks

    RaJazz is a musical ensemble composed of nine superb Virginian performing artists who have captivated audiences of all ages and taste with their savory mix of smooth jazz and R&B. The band performed at the Umoja Festival and the Seawall festival in 2016, the Norfolk Town Point Jazz Festival in 2015, the Hampton Jazz Festival in 2012 and the American Music Festival 2011. They opened for NaJee at the Sandler Center in 2010 and for Boyz II Men at the American Music festival in 2009. RaJazz has performed several times at the Bayou Classic in New Orleans. This event is free and open to the public.

  1. Community, Equity, and Opportunity Fest

    The city of Hampton is working with the Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority to host a series of events in elevated-risk communities to teach residents about Covid-19 vaccinations, health screenings and more. Attendees will enjoy refreshments, music, and raffles while registering for their Covid-19 vaccination and learning about health-related resources available to city residents. The CEO Fest Equity Clinics (Community, Equity, and Opportunity) will be held on June 12, June 18, June 22, June 24, and June 25. Go online for more information and to register. The times for each event varies. You must bring lawn chairs or blankets to this event.

    Take a Spin Back in Time! Located in Carousel Park and operated by the Hampton History Museum, the former Buckroe Beach carousel is one of the City of Hampton’s most treasured historic assets. Built in 1920, the carousel is completely restored to its original beauty and housed in its own weather-protected pavilion at Carousel Park on the city’s downtown waterfront. It is one of only 170 antique wooden merry-go-rounds still existing in the U.S. Hand crafted by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company for the Buckroe Beach Amusement Park, Hampton's Carousel is a whirling tribute to the skill of its creators. The Hampton Carousel will operate under federal, state and City of Hampton COVID-19 protocols. Guests will be required to wear masks when inside the carousel building, practice social distancing, and use hand-sanitizer before and after rides.

    The Buckroe Beach Farmers Market is open each Saturday, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., May 1 through Oct. 30. Themed market days are May 22 (Fitness Day), Sept. 25 (Pet Day), and Oct. 23 (Vintage Market). Themed market day hours are 9 a.m.-3 p.m. There is no market on May 29 (Memorial Day weekend), June 5, July 3, July 17, Aug. 28 and Sept. 11. Vendors will be located on the grassy area surrounding the Buckroe Beach gazebo and will sell local produce, baked goods, sausage, seafood, jarred food items and more.

    Hampton Therapeutic Recreation and Hampton Athletics Department partner with Special Olympics Virginia each year to provide athletics programs that engage and empower individuals with intellectual disabilities. Through the power of sports, Special Olympics Athletes discover new strengths and abilities, skills and success. Hampton (Area 30) is part of the Peninsula Region of Special Olympics Virginia. Hampton Therapeutic Recreation is currently accepting registration for Special Olympics Spring Track & Field. Participants must be 18 years or older to register. No fee required.
