    June 1, 2021, 11:00 AM - December 31, 2021, 8:00 PM @ Carousel Park & Hampton Carousel

After being closed for over a year due to the pandemic, the Hampton Carousel opens for the 2021 season on June 1 with COVID protocols. Located in Carousel Park and operated by the Hampton History Museum, the former Buckroe Beach carousel is one of the City of Hampton’s most treasured historic assets. Built in 1920, the carousel is completely restored to its original beauty and housed in its own weather-protected pavilion at Carousel Park on the city’s downtown waterfront. It is one of only 170 antique wooden merry-go-rounds still existing in the U.S. Hand crafted by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company for the Buckroe Beach Amusement Park, Hampton's Carousel is a whirling tribute to the skill of its creators. The Hampton Carousel will operate under federal, state and City of Hampton COVID-19 protocols. Guests will be required to wear masks when inside the carousel building, practice social distancing, and use hand-sanitizer before and after rides.

    August 18, 2021, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Machen Neighborhood Park

The Rec 'n' Roll Scuttle Bus is coming to a neighborhood park near you throughout August, loaded with fun games and activities for kids age 5 and older. Hampton's Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services Department is bringing the bus to different neighborhood parks every Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m.-noon. The goal is to give the kids something fun to do, while still following current health guidelines because of the pandemic. Kids will be kept in small groups and they'll practice social distancing. All participants in an activity will be required to wear a mask, and they'll get a USDA-approved bag lunch to take home. Kids don't have to sign up, and they don't have to register. Just come out and have fun! See the full schedule below.
