Teetotalers and Moonshiners, and Hampton’s Prohibition Story

The exhibit combines content from the Virginia Library’s 2017 exhibit “Teetotalers and Moonshiners: Virginia’s Prohibition Experiment” with research and artifacts from the Hampton History Museum on the local experience. "Hampton's Prohibition Story" features myriad items to tell the story, including dozens of photographs; numerous bottles, jugs and other containers; games, smoking accoutrements, beverage dispenser, signs and materials of saloon culture; service ware, promotional items and memorabilia from Point Comfort resorts, Phoebus police and fire department items, doctor bag and instruments; and moonshine still components on loan from the Museum of the Albemarle. The exhibit continues through February 4, 2024.

Growing up Grands

Gain knowledge from experts, through 6 discussion sessions, on such topics as legal and school issues, social media and technology, community resources, family relationships, self-care, and stress management, parenting issues, and child development, and much, much more. Receive individual follow-up services linking you with supportive programs.

Nurturing Skills for Parents- - Morning class

Healthy Families invites families with children between birth and 12 yrs old to come and learn in our 12 week program. Parent's topics: Family rules, Encourage appropriate behavior, Effective communication, Stress management. Positive Discipline Establishing Nurturing Routines Normal Childhood Development  

Nurturing Parents of Teens

A 12 week program enabling parents and teens to develop better communication, identify clear boundaries and gain better strategies for cooperation. Parents & teens meet separately for the first hour then come together the second hour to work on topics as a family.

Valentine's Day Card Creation Studio @ Main Library

Fiber Crafts @ the Main

Meet some new friends! Bring your knitting, sewing, quilting, cross stitch or anything you are working on.

Barbygarten Winter Session @ Main Library

Babygarten is a program for babies and their caregivers that offers fun activities like singing, rhymes, and movement followed by a group reading of a selected board book. The second half of the program is a fun playtime for babies. Please come in comfortable clothes. The program nurtures the bond between caregiver and child and increases the caregiver's awareness of the child's development.
