12th Annual Day of Remembrance

Join The Sankofa Projects at Fort Monroe Outlook Beach as they educate and celebrate the richness and diversity of the African diaspora and bring awareness to this tragic chapter in American and global history. The program includes African drumming, songs, dance, poetry, historical presentations, and traditional African libation.

Downtown Hampton Block Party Featuring Slapnation

The Block Party provides live music on the corner of East Queens Way and King Way in Downtown Hampton Saturdays during the summer. This is a great opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal from one of the nearby restaurants while listening to some of the best regional bands in our area! Tonight's performer is Slapnation!

Pickleball

Pickleball is an indoor or outdoor racket/paddle sport in which two players, or four players, hit a perforated hollow plastic ball over a 36-inch-high net using solid-faced paddles. Opponents on either side of the net hit the ball back and forth until one side commits a rule infraction.

All-City Small Ball Camp

ALL-CITY SMALL BALL CAMP — Register your child for All-City Small Ball Camp at North Phoebus Community Center on June 10 from 10am-12pm. This program will promote the game of grassroots basketball for children ages 5-7 (grades K-2) in an instructional environment.

Yogik Rhythm, Meditation & Mindfulness

This program will teach rhythmic yoga movements and stretches for core strength. Join us as we practice meditation skills that will allow stress to leave the body while learning practices of mindfulness.

Teetotalers and Moonshiners, and Hampton’s Prohibition Story

The exhibit combines content from the Virginia Library’s 2017 exhibit “Teetotalers and Moonshiners: Virginia’s Prohibition Experiment” with research and artifacts from the Hampton History Museum on the local experience. "Hampton's Prohibition Story" features myriad items to tell the story, including dozens of photographs; numerous bottles, jugs and other containers; games, smoking accoutrements, beverage dispenser, signs and materials of saloon culture; service ware, promotional items and memorabilia from Point Comfort resorts, Phoebus police and fire department items, doctor bag and instruments; and moonshine still components on loan from the Museum of the Albemarle. The exhibit continues through February 4, 2024.

Sankofa's International Day of Remembrance Ceremony

This day honors the millions of African men, women and children who perished during the Middle Passage. Join The Sankofa Projects as they educate and celebrate the rich and diverse history of the African diaspora and bring awareness to this tragic chapter in American and global history. The program includes African drumming, songs, dance, poetry, historical presentations and a traditional African libation at noon. Follow signs to event location. Presented in partnership with the Fort Monroe Authority and Fort Monroe National Monument.
