Celebrate Healthcare’s Second Annual Juneteenth Freedom Fest – Peninsula is back for another exciting Juneteenth event. Guests can enjoy this free festival that will include worship service, cultural arts and entertainment, a job and community resource fair, a book author’s corner and so much more. Special guest entertainment will include Washington D.C. go-go band EU featuring Sugar Bear.

The exhibit combines content from the Virginia Library’s 2017 exhibit “Teetotalers and Moonshiners: Virginia’s Prohibition Experiment” with research and artifacts from the Hampton History Museum on the local experience. "Hampton's Prohibition Story" features myriad items to tell the story, including dozens of photographs; numerous bottles, jugs and other containers; games, smoking accoutrements, beverage dispenser, signs and materials of saloon culture; service ware, promotional items and memorabilia from Point Comfort resorts, Phoebus police and fire department items, doctor bag and instruments; and moonshine still components on loan from the Museum of the Albemarle. The exhibit continues through February 4, 2024.

Beginning Sunday, June 11, the “Groovin’ by the Bay” concert series returns to Mill Point Park every Sunday night, 5-8pm, through August 27. Free parking is available in the Hampton University garage next to the park, and in any legal, on-street spaces as marked including handicapped. Food vendors will be on-site ($) as well. Although pets are allowed in the park, for their comfort and safety we recommend they be left at home. The concerts are free and open to the public, and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating.
